Carport & Garage Construction & Installation

Panama City's Best Option for Carports, Garages and Motorhome Cover Construction & Installation

Protecting your vehicles, boats and equipment from the Florida sun and severe weather does not always require expensive, time-consuming construction. Carports, motorhome covers and portable garages provide practical protection from UV exposure, heavy rain and falling debris without the cost and disruption of building a traditional garage.

For many property owners, these structures provide the coverage they need at a fraction of the cost and installation time of permanent construction.

Our Panama City, FL carports and motorhome covers are built with:

6×6 pressure-treated wood posts that go 4 feet into the ground
Concrete poured around the 6×6 post
Pressure-treated wood rafter, wood trusses, aluminum roofing and siding with trim

Motorhome covers can be built to your desired height and length. We follow strict construction protocols to maximize the wind resistance of our carport and motorhome covers. This includes utilizing machine-dug holes that reach an adequate depth and pouring an engineer-approved poundage of concrete for ideal post anchoring. This is critical for support in high winds.

Portable Garage Built to Last in Panama City, FL

Our portable garages are constructed using the same durable building methods as our portable buildings, carports and motorhome covers, with heavy-duty framing, aluminum roofing and siding, and long-lasting construction materials designed for Florida weather conditions.

Our portable garages can be customized based on how the customer plans to use the structure, whether for vehicle storage, workshops, equipment storage or general storage.

Wood Floor Garage Installation

Portable garages can include a heavy-duty wood floor system constructed from ¾-inch tongue and groove plywood with a dry ply sealant and secured with 3” 16d galvanized nails (not stapled). This option works well for workshops, storage and equipment storage where a raised floor system is preferred.

Concrete Slab Garage Installation

For customers who plan to park cars, trucks, recreational vehicles or boats in the garage, and those who want a more permanent installation, garages can be installed on a 4-inch thick, monolithic, termite-treated concrete slab. Concrete slabs provide a solid surface for vehicle storage and heavy equipment.

You can choose the color of the garage as well as the number, size and placement location of doors and windows. All garage roofing and siding materials are durable aluminum and are attached with 1½-inch screws and neoprene washers. Aluminum is a low-maintenance siding material that does not require painting and holds up well in Florida weather.

We also include one light and one electrical outlet. (It is the customer’s responsibility to connect all electrical components.)

Portable Carport and Garage Frequently Asked Questions

  • How deep are carport posts installed in the ground?

Carport and motorhome cover posts are typically installed 4 feet into the ground and secured with concrete to provide stability and wind resistance. Post depth and concrete footings are especially important in Florida, where structures must withstand strong winds and storms. Proper post installation helps prevent shifting, leaning or structural movement over time.

  • Can a carport be installed on an existing concrete slab?

In many cases, yes. If an existing concrete slab is large enough, thick enough and structurally sound, a carport can often be anchored directly to the slab instead of installing posts into the ground. The slab must be thick enough and in good condition to support anchors. If the slab is not suitable, posts may need to be installed into the ground nearby instead.

  • Can a carport be enclosed later to turn it into a garage?

Many carports can be partially or fully enclosed later by adding walls, doors, or siding panels. However, this depends on how the structure was originally built and whether the foundation and framing are designed to support enclosure. If enclosure may be added later, it is usually best to plan for that during the initial construction so the structure is designed accordingly.

  • What height should a motorhome or RV cover be?

Motorhome and RV covers are built to the height required for your vehicle, including air conditioning units and roof accessories. It’s important to measure the tallest point of the vehicle and allow extra clearance for safe entry and exit. Most RV covers are built significantly taller than standard carports to accommodate larger vehicles.

  • Do portable garages require a concrete slab?

Portable garages do not always require a concrete slab. Many are installed on compacted gravel pads, concrete slabs, or other level surfaces depending on how the building will be used. Concrete slabs are often preferred for vehicle storage, workshops or heavy equipment because they provide a solid, long-term foundation, but they are not always required.

  • How long does carport or garage installation take?

Carport and motorhome cover installation is typically completed on site and may take anywhere from one day to several days depending on size, site conditions and weather. If concrete footings or a slab are required, up to a week may be needed for the concrete to cure before the structure can be fully installed or used.

Portable garages are often delivered and set in place once the site is prepared, which can make installation relatively quick compared to traditional construction.

  • What kind of access is required for carport or portable garage installation?

Installers typically need truck and equipment access to the installation area. This means enough width for a truck or trailer to reach the site, as well as overhead clearance free of tree branches, power lines or other obstacles.

For portable garages, access is especially important because the building may be delivered partially or fully constructed and then positioned on the site. If access to the backyard is limited, placement options may be restricted.

It is also important to consider how the structure will actually be used. If the garage will be used for parking vehicles, there needs to be enough space for vehicles to safely enter, exit and turn into the structure. In some cases, a structure may technically fit in a location but be difficult to access with a vehicle due to turning radius or driveway alignment. Planning placement around both installation access and daily use is important.

  • How much do carports or portable garages cost in Panama City, Florida?

Pricing varies based on size, materials, height, site conditions, foundation requirements and customization options such as doors, windows or enclosed walls. Larger structures such as RV covers or enclosed garages typically cost more due to additional materials and construction time. The best way to get accurate pricing is to discuss the size and intended use of the structure with Bestway Portable Buildings.

  • What sizes do carports and garages come in?

Carports, motorhome covers and portable garages can be built in a wide range of widths, lengths and heights depending on the intended use. We provide custom sizing to fit specific vehicles, property layouts or space constraints.
